Navvis today announced Scott Ellner, DO, MPH, MHCM, FACS, joined the company as Market President. A dynamic healthcare leader and clinical transformation expert, Dr. Ellner has a proven track record of driving organizational growth amidst complex healthcare landscapes. At Navvis, he will be focused on helping healthcare organizations accelerate their transformation to value-based care and will be working closely with our client partners in the New England area.
Dr. Ellner will oversee the strategic and operational implementation of value-based care delivery to drive performance in health systems, physician enterprises, and health plans. He will be responsible for a market-based growth strategy in New England, supporting physicians as they move to value-based care through technology enablement, practice optimization, governance, population health capabilities, physician leadership, and a strong payer strategy.
Previously, Dr. Ellner served as the Chief Executive Officer of Billings Clinic, the largest health system in Montana. Under his leadership, the physician enterprise, clinical service lines, and hospital partnerships across Montana and Wyoming experienced unprecedented growth and expansion, maintaining strong operational performance even during the challenging post-pandemic era. In 2022, Forbes recognized Billings Clinic as one of the Best Hospitals to Work for in Montana.
Dr. Ellner has also held key positions at Centura Health, where he served as the Group President and CEO of Physician Alignment. During his tenure, he spearheaded the development of Colorado Health Neighborhoods, a clinically integrated network of more than 3,200 physicians. In collaboration with United Health Care and Optum, Dr. Ellner co-developed the Colorado Doctor’s Plan, an innovative narrow network insurance product that empowered physicians to deliver care within a well-coordinated, value-based model.
Prior to his executive roles, Dr. Ellner had a successful career as a general and trauma surgeon, serving as President of Saint Francis Medical Group at Trinity New England. Dr. Ellner also served as the Chairman and Founder of the Connecticut Surgical Quality Collaborative, bringing together a consortium of 20 hospitals to share outcomes-based data and develop best practices for comparative effectiveness research.
Dr. Ellner holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, a master’s degree in public health from San Diego State University, a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Western University of Health Sciences, and a master’s degree in healthcare management from Harvard University. He expects to earn a master’s degree in legal studies from the University of Oklahoma School of Law in 2024. Dr. Ellner is board certified in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery and serves on the Montana Hospital Association Board.
